Hayward residents will soon enjoy a Fresh and Easy new way to shop for food, as British-based Tesco recently inked a lease for a 14.5k sf Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Market at Fairway Park Shopping Center. Tesco, in one of the company's first Bay Area deals, took the former Albertsons space at the retail center, located on Mission Blvd, between Gresel and Rousseau streets.

Tesco, the largest retailer in the UK and the third largest retailer in the world, has been expanding into a handful of western US markets, including Southern California, Arizona, Nevada, and most recently to the Bay Area. They were represented in the transaction by Matt Alexander & Liz Gallagher of Staubach.

The Fairway Park Shopping Center, a 138k sf neighborhood shopping center located in the southern region of Hayward, was acquired by Fowler Property Acquisitions, LLC (FPA) earlier this year from Fairwood Management, in a deal that was brokered by NAI BT Commercial's Dan Wald and Terranomics' Mark Koenig and John Schaefer.

FPA has received all necessary permits and approval to begin work on its major renovation of the Fairway Park Shopping Center, which includes a complete remodel and upgrade of the façade, and new elevation presentation, along with enhancements to the parking lot, pad buildings, landscaping and signage. Renovations are scheduled to begin soon. FPA was repped by Meghann Martindale, Mark Koenig, and Jon Stansbury with Terranomics Retail Services in the Fresh & Easy lease.
