Hayward, CA – January 31, 2008– Meghann Martindale , Mark Koenig , and Jon Stansbury with Terranomics Retail Services represented property owner Fowler Property Acquisitions, LLC (FPA) in a 14,456 square foot lease to British-based Tesco for its Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Mark et store in the former Albertsons' space at the Fairway Park Shopping Center located on Mission Blvd. between Gresel and Rousseau Streets in Hayward, CA. Fresh & Easy was represented by Matt Alexander & Liz Gallagher with Staubach. This transaction marks one of the first fully executed deals in the Bay Area for Tesco's Fresh & Easy concept stores. Tesco is the largest retailer in the UK and the third largest retailer in the world and according to one of its recent announcements has emerged into a handful of western US markets, including Southern California, Arizona , Nevada , and most recently to the Bay Area.
“It is very exciting to have Tesco select Fairway Park Shopping Center as one of its first locations for its Fresh & Easy concept stores here in the Bay Area,” states Stansbury.
The Fairway Park Shopping Center is a 138,000 square foot neighborhood shopping center located on Mission Boulevard in the southern region of Hayward . The vintage center was acquired by FPA earlier this year from Fairwood Management, a deal which was brokered by NAI BT Commercial's Dan Wald and Terranomics' Mark Koenig and John Schaefer.
FPA has received all necessary permits and approval to begin work on its major renovation of the Fairway Park Shopping Center , which includes a complete remodel and upgrade of the façade, new elevation presentation, and further other enhancements to include the parking lot, pad buildings, landscaping and signage. Renovations are scheduled to begin soon.
“Securing Fresh & Easy is a critical component of FPA's commitment to successfully upgrade and re-tenant the center. We're pleased to be a part of the redevelopment and expanding the tenant base to serve the community” states Martindale. |
